Ok this is my first digital art image that actually "looks" like something, I need HELP pretty badly. Let me know what I did wrong, what techniques should I be using... This thing was done entirely in Photoshop. What I did was I sketched it with a mouse then painted over it, created some sort of background, added a lens flare and lighting effects.
I agree that this is not a very proportional piece, but bare in mind that it was never meant to be, its an alien for christs sake...
Let me know what you guys think.

Art classes might help ... but that's being a bit harsh.
Lighting is wrong, perspective is wrong, underlying bone structure obviously not thought about, eyes have some style, but they're completely mis-matched from the rest of the face since I don't think "style" was what you were going for (you want realism).
Basically, your alien is a human face that is distorted. In the same way that comic book artists distort (aka exagerate) the human form, they need a good understanding of the basic human form from which to derive the super-muscled, gravity defying breasted characters which they draw. Draw some real human faces and take a portrait drawing class if you can, then try drawing this look again.
Oh, and I forgot to add ... lense flares are devil spawn. Don't use them for the hell of using them like you have in this image. Anyone worth their digital artistic weight can spot filters from a mile away and is usually an instant turn off.

I think that important is that you like to draw and want to become good artist.
Try to draw with Loomis Anatomy,

I started recently and after several days of drawing I am much better than before ... |
