whoa.. This helped me tremendously to see shadows and shapes. It doesn't necessarily look like Michael Jordan, but that was the pic I was working from. Our project tonite was to do a 15-20 minute pic using white charcoal on black crap construction paper, if you are new to drawing and are looking to try and see lighting and shadowing using only white on black paper made a big difference in how you look at stuff. Here's what I came up with last night:
