So here's my pic. I doesn't feel finished, but I'm not sure what it's missing. Anyone have any ideas? Can you tell me what you think is going on?

It's hosted on tripod , so...if you wanna see it, ya gotta paste the link into your address bar. Sorry! http://walkaer321.tripod.com/hapvalrach2.jpg

Thanks for your help!

Phew...glad I fell in love before cupid upgraded to the rocket propelled, hollow point arrows.

As a picture it would seem the stuff in the background isn't needed. I'd have to assume it is some place you two met or go to. The way the things are placed give the entire picture a floating feelings. Things, places and ideas just kinda floating about the paper freely. Could be a good or bad thing. I dunno. I guess it depends on what you are trying to convey. The only suggestion I could make is to somehow link the things together to keep them from floating.

I personally like this card a lot. After all, nothing is better than a psychopathic valentine in the morning. I see a wounded man screaming in front of a sidewalk cafe with a portrait painting (why?) in it.. The thing that confused me the most is I can't tell whether it's outdoor or indoor - if it's indoor, then the portrait would've made sense, but the glass window and the door on the side would seem misplaced. If it's outdoor, the portrait seems quite abrupt to me, but then the window and the door would make sense. My advice is to 1) Clearly define the vanishing point of this scenery.. and since it is not that far away, you might as well work on the wall where the portrait was hanged. 2) I agree with Gimbal that this picture has a floating feeling, maybe by adding some texture to the ground (if you're in a rush, just do around the edges of the walls).

Gimbal8 -- You're right on the on the money, that's where we met and used to hang out at school.

I'm thinking of adding more detail to the ground (see below).

Ahcri - I can see how that could be confusing, in that you'd think that the wall that she's not sitting next to should be coming TOWARDS you if it was indoors, neh? Well actually it's the entrance to a huge chamber where we all ate lunch. I'm banking on the hope that she will recognize it (and that's why the portrait's there too. Just another clue as to where it's set).

I'm hesitant to work on the vanishing point because in reality it's really complex, and since I'm working from memory, I'm sure I'll get it wrong :P

But I do think I'll take your advice with the texturing. I'm thinking adding some color to the spot above my left hand (where the signature is).

Thanks, both of you for your help! =D
