Decided to attempt drawing this lovely lady. I have a poor eye for detail or drawing from photos.
In earlier stages, the pic resembled more like Natalie Portman (different lips and slightly longer eyes) now she looks more like Rachael Leigh Cook...or not...but she's missing some Audrey. I can't pinpoint it but it's probably in the eyes and lips?
Plus any help to shading and such would be appreciated. Cuz i'm horrible at choosing colors and thinking in shapes.
Thanks! |

Dunno. Looks like her to me. You're being too picky? |

I would have told you this yesterday night, but too tired.
Anyways, the state she's in now, she's got a very oil painting-ish look. I wouldn't go about changing it because I think it has more personality than a photo replica of say...the same thing; Audrey.
And I have to agree, her ear is too large and looks almost oddly shaped?
You also might wish to add a slightly darker tone of brown to give her some contrast. Though, b/c it to just give a test of how it would look with some more contrast; you might not like it. Me thinks you're still working on the ear's detail so I won't pick on that.
I'll tell you more in private. |

She needs to go on a diet, her cheeks are chubby! I would give her a face lift, raising her cheek bones slights and drawing her whole cheek area up/back. |

I'm checking this pic on a pc on campus. 17" monitor and most likely set on default settings. What I see is noticeably different from what i see at home. Her face is significantly longer and maybe that is why she appears "fatter". hmmm damn monitor settings. I always have a problem with my monitor, I'm never sure how it would appear on other monitors. that Adobe management program just doesn't work for me. Either I have trouble figuring out when the b/w lines fade into grey or my monitor is screwed up anyways ( I Did manage to bent a pin or 2)...
I'll fix the ear, it's bothering me too. Was tired of working on it and went to play SC w/ Kuren. I was working with a combination of different reference photos to try to understand her facial features whether than just "photocopy" a photograph.
thnx for da tips. |

Hon, you can turn off the silly adobe color management in preferences. I suggest you do so. Switch it to "simplified monitor RGB" when you get home. That should display what the rest of 98 displays. I bet you'll notice the diff of colors; hues and tones, when you view pics outside of PS. That's if you set it inside PS. I think PS also install a color management system for the entire OS...but we'll see.
You should probably also set the horizontal and vertical size as well as shape of the display area on your monitor...I could have sworn I tweaked that...but dbl check. |

Are you running at 1280x1024 on one of your monitors? Cause if you are that's your problem. Always run at 1280x960 to avoid distortion. Nice rendering BTW, good work |
