4,000 polygons. Any suggestions for the materials or crits on the model? I'm going to model some missiles and fuel tanks next, then try compositing it into photos.

What model of mud hen is it going to be? That will kinda dictate the avionics and weapons loadout it will most likely be packing. Not to mention the role it is going to be deployed for and corresponding paint scheme.
It would be cool if you composited it into photos in a somewhat historically accurate way, the way aviation artist work. I don't think I have any issues of World Airpower Journal that detail the F-15 specifically but I'm sure there are some good pics with the proper insignia's and loadouts available. Then again, you have internet access. I'm sure you already have plenty of source materail already. |

Hey Gimbal - I've finished it off as an F-15C with standard air superiority arms (4 sparrows and 4 sidewinders) and a fuel tank, cos they look cool. Check it in the gallery. |

Hmm. I would dirty up the texture a little bit. Planes get this gunk on them in big streaks because of the intense wind. I have no issue with the model, it's great, but the texture is a little flat.

You might want to try this plugin to simulate GI stuff: http://www.3dluvr.com/subagio/domelight/HDRdome.html
It automatically makes a dome of shadow map spotlights at render time. It looks similar to GI, not as pretty, but similar. And it renders a billion times faster. |
