I'm not very good at dramatic lighting and wanted to know how I could make those lights shining down look more realistic.
All I did was paint white all over the place, but it looks so fake.
Any c&c very much appreciated.

Hi! You get the dubious honor of my first post. =D
You might try adding more indication of what the light is hitting, instead of treating the light like a solid object. If you really want the rays, maybe reduce their opacity, then increase the contrast on whatever is below them with some stronger highlights. |

Hi ... ok well I like the composition quite cool, and the image has a nice feel to it, nice colours they work well together, youve got to understand that when light hits an object it reflects some of that light around, I think you need more ambient and reflected light in the pitch black areas, more diffusion from the rays themselves, and give them more opacity so that you can see whats behind them giving it a bit more depth, and remember a white light behind a semi transparent light will add to the intensity giving it more variation in tone and maybe you could try colouring the lights a yellowish colour or something. Hope this helps ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

i like this a lot, too. nice colors and composition. i thikn you need to scatter your lights, like Jolyon said. also, if the light is painted on a different layer, try changing the blending mode from normal or screen to color dodge. it makes it lighter, but also more saturaded. |
