As requested by Hoodz...here's my 3D stuff.
This is the guy I wanna biped. Obviously he's consisted of multiple objects...and I've never really worked with biped before, nor have I skinned. Most I've worked with are procedural maps and your basic humdrum bitmaps.
This image I raytraced initially to be setup on a black bg. Yes, he isn't skinned and I dunno what I was doing with raytrace...oh no! RT in the hands of a noob! =P But anyway, I changed the bg to white and it LOOKS celshaded. Just thought I'd share that with everybody. heh
Anyways, if anybody could help me out with biped and skinning in Max 3 I'd be greatly appreciated. |

Well, if he's made of individual pieces, it will be a breeze to link him to the biped.
Make a biped, click on the little "man" icon to go into figure mode, and scale the limbs and body parts of your biped to match the robot. Then select the individual pieces of your robot, and link them to their respective pieces on the biped. That's all there is to it.
If you want to link a continuous mesh to the biped, you have to mess around with Physique and envelopes, and crap like that which gets a little more tedious. But robots are more simple. |

You could also use the skin-modifier. It's simpler than physique but you can weight every single vertice absolutely.. I guess for a robot like this you've no use for tendons and bulges.. |

very gundam-ish, looks like Gun Cannon, Zaku/Gofu, Titan/EZ8 influences |

Actually it's a GM Custom so the design IS taken. This was supposed to be for the intro animation of my Gundam Century mod for Starcraft. But I don't think I'll be working on the mod anymore...soo...I'm just gonna fool around with this guy. |
