I suggest you do another re-work of the sketch so that you can give the elements within it a bit more definition. Then we can start to crit it I used to collect these things year ago! I remember the dark reapers they were cool. The picture has potential, maybe if you brought the "camera" angle down so that youre looking up the "tower" if it is one, towards the main focal character, and you can see the other flying ones (cant remember their names) spiralling around overhead, might look pretty cool. |

Now that you blocked it in I can kinda make things out better. I still can't make out what the thing is just above and to the left of the guys hand, looks like a little guy wearing a santa hat.
It looks like he is motioning the 'move in' hand gesture but it isn't clear who he is giving commands to. Maybe if the pic was just a little wider and you put another Pathfinder opposite him (in the lower left corner) getting ready to move from behind cover.
But I don't know what story you are trying to tell with the picture so my suggestions might be way off.
BTW - I don't know if you seen it earlier (I replied to one of your earlier threads) but congrats on getting your Kroot pic in the Feb issue of White Dwarf. |

LOL santa hat... dammit!
i've gotten "really nice dwarf" and "keebler elf". i need to refine it. Basically it's supposed to be another ranger coming up over the shoulderpad of the statue. His hood's up. Maybe if i dropped it, he'd make more sense. he's got one of those respirators on too.
here's a larger version of it. maybe it'll make more sense.
It's supposed to be kind of a chain of orders or something. he's motioning to the guy up behind him, who's talking to someone else.
All this i'm trying to do as theoretical "Card Game Art", so it's brain bending trying to tell a story that small.
Essentially, all this is supposed to be is "hey , this is what pathfinders look like" hehe.
Thanks on the WD Kroot thing. Did that back in November after talking to "Dirty Steve" specifically for the letters page. I still haven't seen it

lol sorry man. The larger version of the pic lookes like a larger Keebler elf. I just can't seem to shake it now. But I can see that they are on a Space Marine statue now that you mention it is a shoulder. Ultra Marines by the look of it.
You might have to reduce the detail level of the 'Keebler' so that the shapes don't get too complicated for that resolution. I can see where you are going with the picture now that I know what the 'thing' was.
Nice to watch the progression of your pics. Maybe it will help me learn hot to get over my picture finishing phobia. |

I definately like the composition!
Heres some stuff I would change.
Foreground elf's left foot (the one closest to us) looks a bit small, and it looks a little bit like he doesnt have a butt. Perhaps turning the foremost leg towards the viewer would fix both problems.
His hands look a tad too large and chunky, that goes for the other ranger as well.
I'd like to see the background ranger aiming his rifle at a downward angle, and yea definately rethink the hood
Perhaps horizontal flip the vyper in the back, what with the guy in focus pointing that way and all. Seems left is the general direction of advancement for the eldar here.
The tower/wall behind the background ranger - first I'd move its left edge a bit to the right, so the background ranger overlaps it a bit. Perhaps make it a semi blown out gothic church window, but too much detail there would steal the show from the main man..
Lastly, I'd like to see a ravaged cityscape in the far background instead of mountains. That or a couple of Titans |

It looks like it could have a lot of potential, but I cant see the swooping hawks very good. I also play Warhammer. |

His hand looks much better now that you have shortened the pointy finger. And I can see the other guy now and he doesn't look Keebler anymore.
The only thing i can think of to say at this stage is maybe try tilting the other guys head upward. It might give his pose a look as if he is about to move. Hard to explain what I'm visioning in my mind's eye. Anyway, keep at it. I'm taking notes. |

thanks. i like the way he's kinda fading into the background too (the back guy).
I skipped a night's update, sorry.
But i DO have this to share... from this month's White Dwarf, just came out:
my kroot drawing on page 71.
it's a lot bigger than i thought they'd print it. i'm pretty stoked. |

The difference of the statue's shoulder from stage 6 to 7 might be a subtle change, but it made a huge difference. It is a much more tangible thing now. I would comment further but I have to get home and work on my own art now |
