The thought behind this is that he just lighted the flare in his hand and then pisses his pants when he sees the alien thingy.
Im quite satisfied with the guy in the suit, but the lighting of the alien is whats bugging me..

Maybe it's because even though the man in the spacesuit seems closer to the viewer than the alien, the face of the monster isn't lit as it should be in that case. I'd try to bring more light into the alien face, instead of just the highlights on the edges of the figure.
And I experience the light of such a flare being very hard, casting dramatic shadows everywhere. The torch you drew, looks like it is almost extinguished. I know it's hard to find a point where the torch chases away all shadows, while still hinting at the very dark surroundings.
And a last point I'd like to comment on, is how the curve of the neck combined with the line of the chin makes the complete line lose all power. One and one is in this case zero, they deaden eachother.
