don't have a wacom yet, so i'm doing traditional drawings, what do you think? i used some reference materials, pictures, other drawings by other artists




the first tree is based on a 3d image i found a while back, don't know who it was made by
second tree is from the band days of the new

SWEET! I also draw freehand but its not as good as that and the only thing I can see that I dont like is one of darth mauls horns (our top left )looks bad.

I'm assuming that you're working on grey paper here - if you want to add some more depth to these images - try using white chalk / conte pencil to pick out hilites.

[edit] And when doing portraits - it helps to add at least a hint of the neck and shoulders to avoid the 'floating face' effect.

Even when you do get a tablet - you'll appreciate using trad. media as it gives you a feel for a variety of techniques and textures - keep at it

actually, i'm working on white paper, my digital camera isn't too good and it didn't pick up the color correctly
