Hi everyone .. I have decided I am a crap artist now.. I cant draw. Maybe Im having a bad day. Everything that can go wrong has gone wrong with this guy. Im not the best at real organic anatomy. This has proven that. It has come out so badly. Anyway .. the help I need... The hand holding the phone is meant to be close to the camera, thats why its bigger, the head well I was never good at drawing faces without any reference so I dont know what to do with that. The torso seems to be a bit offset, not sure exactly how. If anyone could give it a quick sketch over thatd be great. Also If anyone could give me nay links to sites that help with drawing basic human anatomy muscle structures etc, that would be infinitely useful. I thought I could get by, by trying the best I could without reference etc, but I need some tutorials and help. Didnt do anatomy at school in art so I guess Id better start to get it down properly now!! Thanks for any help anyone can give me!
THANKS SOOO MUCH!! |

Learning human anatomy takes lots of time. I'll recommend that you go and buy an anatomy book to learn from. Burne Hogarth's dynamic anatomy would be a good to start in my opinion. Remember human figure can't be learned over night, so be patient and don't spare your ass muscles. 8) |

Have been bashing away at it for a while, I was going to post this in here instead of replace the old one, but I overwrote the file ... duh! Anyway its coming along a bit better, Im happy with the head now. Im still a bit stuck with what I should do for the right arm (his right) and the fingers clasping the phone. Are there any techniques I should remember to make this perspective shot look relatively realistic!? Do you think the jeans shadow light areas should contrast more?? Thanks peeps! |

If Hogarth doesn't work for you (like me), then I'd go with Willy Pogany, Bridgeman, Barcsay or Giovanni Civardi.
Specifically, I think you need more forshortening on the forearm, and there is some kind of disconnect between the upper arm and the rest of the arm. |

Yea I agree with dog, the only way this arm towards the camera could be possible is if there was some effects added to the original shot. Like some kind of magnification distortion filter or something, which is EXActly what this reminds me of...This really is a nice job, can't wait to see it finished.
Peace |

hey try just showing a little shoulder and alot more hand. So you won't see so much arm. With forshortening some little ways you can cheat are by covering up some of the forshortened limb. It will get rid of the fattening appearance of the forearm. |

you might wanna try drawing the whole hand behind the phone, so that you can make sure the fingers are right, at least that's what I do when I draw something like that |
