Hey, im new to this forums. I've seen alot of stuff around here and its great, excellent paintings/sketches, a great forum.
Well I drew up this full body pic of *Hornhead* a character I thought looked really neat facially. So I figured I would give him a body. Its extremely rough. But I was wondering if I could get some Critique on it? What could I change?
I was goin for a more 'stargate' feel, dont know if I touched on that though.
Anywho, nice meeting you all. And if you veiwed this, thanks for your time.

Hello, The Duke.
My thoughts:
Everything is there, but most elements lose track of eachother. I'm talking about proportions. I had trouble with this too, and I think most of us did. When you're drawing, it's essential that every part of a body tells the same story as another part, otherwise everything will fall apart. I know the drill: You're drawing very concentratedly, and not really paying attention to the general pose of the figure, and when you think you're finished, something doesn't seem right.
For instance, the shoulders can't be positioned like that when the head isn't a full frontal view.
And what goes for the hands goes for anything else in the drawing. You started with drawing the phalanx of a finger, and built from there on. It's better to do this the other way around. Draw an outline, so you don't get distracted by details. And draw the outline or box until you feel it's right, then start filling in details.
And stick around on the forum to practice and learn, that's basically the same as I do. |

Ok I did another quickie in my half hour break from work here. I wanted to give him more of the look he had before. I did this from memory adding the bottem collar part right there.
Im looking at that left eye (his left) and thinking it doesnt look quite right though... Hmm.
