After failing miserably at coloring my last B&W picture I decided to do the next one in color right away.
Anyway here's the color sketch, I've started to add some details on the log but it's slow going so I predict this picture to take a very long time to finish..
C&C welcome
Oh, I do plan to add some flowers and foreground foilage in front of the log to fill out the grey area.

If you do plas to do so, I have nothing to say...
Oh, yeah, it looks really good!!
Especially the green, warm tones, nice.
One could say that it's pretty undramatic, but it shure is lovely.

I was planning to put a blue creature with a spear on the log, maybe that would make it a little more intresting. The purpose of the picture was to learn to draw foilage though.

okkun, I would say you are off to a very good start on painting foliage and wood too. |

Ok.
Remember the highlights on the small brushes leaves, as you have on the grasslike foilage.
But, ofcourse keep it neat and all. Don't overdo it..
Remends me of the good old Amiga game "Flashback"
Keep at it, looking forward to see what you come up whith.

Yes! I switched on my screen after not looking at for a while and the first though that came into my head was "omg this looks like flashback"

What did you use to do the leaves? A custom brush perhaps? I would like to see it, and the settings you have for it. They look very good.

Actually I just used a regular sharp brush and painted each leaf separately. I guess I could have done it quicker with a custom brush but I think Painter is probably better suited for that than Photoshop.

Really looking sweet oKKun ! I really like the depth and lighting . Can't wait to see the finshed version . You have a broad
range of style . |

Thanks, I like to think I don't have a style. Seems like everyone is looking for a style but I'd rather try different things.
Who knows my next picture might be a cartoon anime style spaceship

take me to your leader.....please! It makes me realize that taking your time is the best option, to detail small sections at a time, your pic makes me see the truth!

As far as a foilage exercise goes, I'd say it's fairly successful. What it really needs though something on the log or the lit area above it, it just doesn't feel complete otherwise. Like you said, a little blue creature would be interesting. |

I would have to agree with everyone else that it is looking very nice! I only think that if you were to add some more cool tones in there it would pop the scene out a little more. |
