Heya
Okay, first time I've posted a pic here...
A few notes: this isn't my usual style, but it's fun to goof off every so often. Also, it is very much in progress, probably finish it tomorrow, give them an environment, etc.
Anyway, welcome your comments and such.
Blocked in the color for the background, will work it tonight and tomorrow.
Derek
oh, and if anyone thinks about asking for the story behind these guys... oy, would take forever to tell you!!! However, I will tell you that our mad scientist stems from Christopher Walken/John Lithgow as I remember them, and his assistant is a caricature of Marty Feldman/Gene Wilder, again as I recall them, and is affectionately named Igor (that's EYE-gor)

cool i knew you were a good artist what you doing at a crappy job hehe.. Anyways i liek i like the characature feel to the characters. Some points here.. Work on the hand anatomy on the mad scientist and also the lighting in the face is off judging from how strong the cast shadow of the nose is onto the face there should a shadow on the left side plane as dark or as the cast shadow of the nose... actually the lighting in this pic is really confusing .. really i cant tell whats going on.. Try to limite your self to one or 2 light sources??? i mean from the looks of it, it looks like you have 3 lightsources + a all around omniscient light.
Also you should maybe work a bit on the bottle the scientist is holding looks like a logo that is printed on his shirt... Maybe make it look more like glass or plastic.
And ill finish with a positive commment i like the guy behinf the scientist.. funky anatomy.... keep it up.. nice style.. =) |

Heya
Yeah, a few things won't make sense until the environment is dropped in... and as I said, it's very much in progress... have not had any time to do more than throw stuff out. There's actually a drawing under it all, but would have been even odder to read the image if I had included that too.
This is the 'get the idea out of your head and onto paper' stage, which technically you wouldn't normally let others see. It'll be followed by the reference stage, checking anatomy, lighting, perspective, etc. And then they get mushed together... by the way, that is a technical term.
I also have to fix the tangent at his wrist and correct a few things for proportion. Even though they are heavily caricatured, there have to be contruction forms followed.
But, not yet... this stage is still for fun!
Style-wise it's a real long way from how I usually work, but for s&g... you know?
Thanks...
