Hi,
I'm trying to learn to paint and I want to see how I'm doing. I know that there are a lot of great painters and people who have the ability to tell when a picture is just screwed up in these forums. Can you kind folks let me know if you see any glaring errors or mistakes that I'm making on this pic?
I'm about half way through and I feel like I'm reaching the point of no return so I would like to correct any potential problem areas sooner rather than later.
Any comments or critiques would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Very nice picture! I can't wait to see it when it's done. The child on the far right, and lower left seem to have some problems with their heads, but that's probably just because you haven't worked on them much. You've got a great start, I like the atmospheric effects you've got going. |

Seems nice. Only problem would be the balance. the pic leans to the left side- the kids are placed around that tree (?) which is the biggest mass in the foreground. now, i suggest adding something to the lower right corner to keep the balance. You can do that by adding some darker values, or placing the kids differently. Many ways to fix it.
other than that, you've got a nice pic there ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
