Hey everyone
As you can probably see this is like my first post, just started to get into drawing and stuff. Refered here by many.
Anyone remember Halloween Harry ?? god that game rocked, a few friends and i are making a mod for ss staring the man himself.
Concept sketch for Harry, i know theres a great many things wrong with it (perspective on gun, shading, face etc) but any helpful tips and stuff would be appreciated.
i still have a fair bit of shading to do, this isnt altered in pshop or anything, yet, im unsure about a few things with it..
thanks peoples!! |

First off: Geocities sucks (doesn't allow outside linking):P
For those who'd like to see the image: http://www.geocities.com/dufus_83/hh.jpg Copy and paste this into your URL bar on the browser.
About your drawing:
The image doesn't need to be this large - unless you're interested in showing some particular detail that wouldn't be visible otherwise (even then it is better to post the detail as a separate, smaller image).
The legs on this guy should be about 50% longer. The flamethrower looks odd. The part of it closer to the handle is seen completely from the side, whilst the rest of it is seen in some kind of 3/4 view.
The left foot seems to be using a right-foot boot and vice-versa. Avoid drawing feet from this "head on" point of view.
The gas hose gets thicker at one end. It'd look better if you kept it uniform or maybe a little thinner further back (perspective).
The muscles on his arms need a little work. Use reference (preferrably from life) to get your anatomy straight.
The helmet should probably be visible on the right side of the head too.
The shading and lines need polishing. If The lines were less smudgy and the shading was more cohearent it'd be better. This is something that comes with time though, don't worry. Maybe you ought to sketch your whole character down quickly before drawing the definite lines.
Please don't take this as offence. It's not. I guess there might be lots of things here that you probably wouldn't have liked to hear - but a "good job!" and a pat on the back doesn't really help you as much as honest commentary. |
