still needs alot of improvement, but what do you think??

1) Not enough ambient or bounced light in the room. The textures are stark where the light from the window hits it but u dont see them anywhere else. try lowering the light value a bit on the "sunlight".

2) The light from the candle is too bright on the tabletop and it doesn't cast shadows.

Basically, it's just a matter of working thru the contrast. The shadows look stenciled. Even up the light sources a bit and it should be juts fine.

heh funny, I did something almost exactly like that a month or two ago for school in 3ds max

well, not quite, I spent quite a bit of time on it. It still needs better ambient lighting and a softer shadow. I used a picture from the Elis Island desease ward as reference and it turned into an 18th century bedroom looking thing.

try softening the light a little. it's almost artificially sharp araound the edges. candles, also, generally emit an uneven an soft light.
