Here is an update on the zombie's progress.
The Previous Post
I've fixed the arm per Lukiaz's request. It was bothering me too.
Basically it's just further along...still a long way to go...haven't even touched the hair...
A little closer.
My monitor has decided that it isn't going to show the color blue anymore so everything has a yellow tint to it. So I probably won't be doing any color work until I replace my monitor...which could be awhile unfortunately...
Until then I'll be working more on drawings.

already the intial post looked great... and its getting better all the time.
the only thought I had.. he looks very dry (cool if its a mummy), and the red flesh looks too vivid and not rotten imho. |

Very very cool.
Agree with Naz about flesh to vivid for a dry corpse. But that could be rather picky. Regardless, it still rocks. |

Sweet!the detail is incredible, cant spot anything wrong here. Your style reminds me abit of those spawn artists. |

Thank you for the replies.
You guys are right. The red flesh is too vivid. It's been knawing at the back of my mind that something was wrong, and now it's glaringly apparent. Will add to list.
I'm planning on doing quite a bit more work on the sores anyway. They need to be blackened around the edges of the skin where it's rotting away creating the hole.
He's also going to get a lot more sloppy. All wet and nasty.
I'm wondering how far is acceptable when it comes to gore. When I showed this to my friend he had to look away, he said he couldn't handle it. He's usually able to handle whatever I subject him to...
Hope nobody gets too pissed. ![](images/smiles/icon_redface.gif) |

Give us the gore and stop holding back man! Think this pic looking very cool, tho maybe its starting to get a little too worked? I think I kinda prefered the earlier looser version.. something about it just seemd more real..
My main problem with it is it's very flat right now, same kinda value range all the way down, and loads of details seems to be the compensation..
how about some more frontal shadows and back lighting to help bring it out some more? add to the mood some more.. and leaving some areas with plainer details?
Just my opinion tho I still like it none the less.

Wow, the detail on that zombie is very intricate! The gore makes the whole character look so interesting and it would really spoil the image if you got rid of it. I can relate to your friend, though, it doesn't make your skin crawl! hehe, I really like it!
Agree the above crit about the flatness, though. The hilites and shadows on this guy need to point to a particular light source in order to define his shape. |
