He looks real cool. All the technical aspects are right on, but all that niceness that is so hard to come by for most peaopl (i.e., the lighting) seems unimportant when it's shifted all around on the guy's face.
I mean, he looks real, unlike a lot of the 'people' people draw, like the girls that all us guys try to make perfectly skinny and sexy with total waxy-smoothe skin and eyelashes all. I hate it when art is so removed from reality that what people are trying to think of as realistic are cartooney potential porn stars. Even the girls that use themselves as references (no offence, ladies).
I really hate it when somebody posts a portrait or figure and asks us if it's 'acceptably' proportional and all that jazz. You'll see realistic (because we're actually real) people on the streets and everywhere that are less symmetrical and "anatomically perfect" than these sketches people post as 'realistic.'
Long rant short, this guy is just plain pleasant-looking. And if something is pleasant to look at, then it classifies as decent artwork to me. Fuck the spiffy clean girls and shit.

When I look at it I get a sense that he (you) isn't really that sad. It's more like a I'll get over it kind of face. Just an observation.
Great artwork, I'm pretty sure you've held a brush before you got to computers. |

Well shit, I thought you were a chick, and I thought the girl problems you were having were the sort of problems that girls have, like pms and shit. My bad.
In that case, less praise on creating an imagined (that's what I thought) face, and more praise to the lighting and color. Of course I don't know what you look like, but it looks like you've captured yourself and your bummed-outtedness very well.
I still like it! |

Hey, very sculpted. Cool job -- but I agree with... with that other guy. (Clicking back on mouse...) "dkimblad" says you don't look so bummed out.
SERIES_7 just came out on video. Finally. There's a guy in there who wants to die die someone kill me -- you look like him, physically, but your face has a bemused look. Like post-concert exhaustion. When you're the rock star.
You could also be doing one of those interview things. Magazine shoots -- where that's the face they put on the two-page spread introducing "<Magazine>'s First Look At". That sort of thing.
It's awfully cool. Five stars as always. |
