Wild hair. Very thin though, it looks like she is starting to go bald. Her eyes definitely add to the wild look, but looks more like she is stoned on something. The expression of her lips looks rather pissed off too, and she looks like she is about to chomp down on that lower lip. The hair makes it look like the wind is blowing pretty wildly but the way the jacket collars are falling doesn't give the same effect. The perspective of the buildings on the right doesn't quite seem to be the same perspective as on the left, but it isn't anything too jarring. That guy down in the lower right hand corner is just an eye sore though, I think you should definitely ditch him when you paint it. Her ears look very weird, like they the tops are turning towards the face trying to touch each other over the nose. Have fun painting it, looking forward to seeing the finished piece! Err, you were implying that you were going to paint it, right? |

Thanks for the crits from everyone who posted... I have finally finished this piece to some degree. It is still in pencil so if something is wrong, give me a crit. This is the low rez version for all of you who do not want to look at the high quality version that has all the details. It is essentially the same image but a a greater size and you can actually see the details.
It can be found at Beauty in Venice hi-rez

I keep my crits to the point, so please don't be offended if I don't beat around the bush.
I would suggest that you pay more attention to the overall contrast of the piece. Right now it's pretty much the same tone of grey.
The perspective looks wonky. Check your vanishing points.
The proportion of her features are a bit wonky. The right corner(our right, not her's)of her lips needs to be redrawn. Look at your drawing in the mirror and you'll catch your mistakes.
Hair when drawn with a buch of lines that have no actual weight or cluster will not look very apealing. Strands of hair form masses. Render it as such.
Hope that helps. |
