Hello,
First, sorry about the scan, I am looking into getting an 11x17 scanner, but for now I am poor and only have a 9x11 and this pic is 11x17. I had to do some stitching in PS and, meticulous as I am, it still isn't perfect. This is a piece that I have been working on for a while, somewhat as an experiment. 1 hour for one day each week. An interesting learning experience for anyone interested. I decided that I would draw this only when I felt like drawing just this picture. I am adding a background as I write this and I am trying to draw all emotion from the background, clothing, and hair instead of the face. Thus, to fully realize this drawing, I need some rabid critiques from you.

I don't see why her lips should be finer... Some people just have slightly big mouths? The teeth make her look a bit ferocious, though. Less detailing might fix that. I like the fact that she seems to be having an overbite, it adds a bit of character ^^

I like the idea of characterizing her by her hair, clothing etc instead of the face. It's a real challenge (well, I have never drawn a single bg in my life so to me it would be *lol*) It sort of makes you think of all the beautiful people in this world who have no personality whatsoever and are having a hard time trying to build up one when they're not beautiful anymore *grin*

First thing: When I went to sleep last night, I think about just about everything before I go to sleep because I have mild insomnia, I realized that the teeth just need to be darker, with a light source like that, the teeth would be much more dark.
Anyways, thanx for the crits...

Magic: Yeah, everyone who has seen this pic has commented on the face and about how it is A) scary, B) intense, or C) just weird.

Probus: The jacket is fixed now, about the hair, I actually got a live model to pose for me in the middle of a gale and she was able to maintain a smile, keep her leather jacket in place and have her hair much like that. It was starting to rain though and by the time I got a good fingernail sketch, her hair was pretty clumped together...
Solayna: Lmao... Yeah, there are some things packaging can't make up for. I don't do that many backgrounds either, but when I spend the time, I do them to the last detail.

Its very well done, i don't like the facial expression very much. Thats just style choice though. When it colored in it might look different. But the sketch is done very well.

very nice detailing, the hair must have been hard to do. her left shoulder looks too boney, but i believe youre already redoing the jacket. the ears look twisted, lips could be a tad finer, and theres also something bout the hair, im not sure this is the way the hair should rise, i think the wind is just too hard for the expression on her face, her jacket, etc. And the expression is a matter of taste, but she looks cold, bringing down the eyebrows would prolly change that.
