Hello,
This is my first post here, and liked the art that I saw in the forum postings and thought I would share and get some info on what I could do better. So here they are.

This is the larger version, needs to be seen to be appreciated.

Original Scan.

Please feel free to color it if you like, just as long as I can see it at least once.
Thanks in advance for your post.

the pencil part impresses me, but i just HATE the combo ... earth's moon and a shot from mars?!

1) the whole picture has different dimensions, different level of detail and different coloring in it. how about making it uni-color (grayscaling and coloring afterwards, i mean)

2) the scan (which is a great work) has this white seam ... though you softened it. you needa find a way to remove it.
(my approach: soften the "seam" and then darken it ... until is disappears in the background)

3) the picture has the allday-landscape canvas-size (don't know the word for it) .... but the scan doesn't.
try a different one ... one that reflects the impression of a tall alien.

to make it short: why did you put such a wonderful drawing in such a strange picture?

Well I liked the idea of having a planet showing behind him and I thought the moon wouldlook alright but it still looks odd. I also wanted a desert looking background of a world gone bad. But givien your advice and a few days of looking at this thing I think a background change is in order. I'm leaning twords tall monolithic buildings with a slightly purpleish ringed moon, shining through the buildings. Sounds better than what I have now no???

Oh and whenever you see the other worlder what colors come to mind??? I'm flat dead on
coloring ideas for this guy.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Well, if he is indeed on Mars it woudl stand to reason that he might be reddish in color... to blend in with the terrain.

You're right about the background, it just doesn't do that great drawing justice at all. (The moon isn't even round let alone the fact that it shouldn't be seen from Mars)

If I were to comp this into a full image i'd likely do a Martian landscape, possibly the start of a sand storm or with one blowign in the distance. The alien fellow would be off to the side, sort of as he is above looking out from the dust, or from a shadow.

My 2 cents.

David

I do not like the combination of the three pictures. Your character is a gray/black & white pice, the mars is colored, and the moon black and white again.
In my opinion it does not blend well.

Its not finished yet, not getting defensive or anything but it is still in progress. I appreciate all your help and ideas and will try to post a revised version soon.

Any way when I color this thing I'm starting to lean tword a light cream color with with black and tan and white accents.

Please feel free to post your comments on what color/colors would look best.

Also does the high rise city idea with a ringed moon in the background sound good to anyone else?
