This is my first post. I would like to know what you think about this.
Any suggestions ?
and ...do you think there aren't enough elements in this pic ? Do i have to add some ?
Thanks,
Daniel R

next step: i think i fixed the problem by adding some vegetation in the foreground.
what do you think about it ? Do you think it improves the composition ?
thanks |

yeah, i agree with da T, you need some more detail in it.. its a castle.. so you might want some straighter brush strokes too |

i think this symmetrical composition is better because it's like beeing at the place of someone who's going out of the forest and suddenly sees the castle.
The fact that the castle is in the center gives more the feeling that *you are* in this situation.
Anyway, i'll try the not-symmetrical composition: it could be interesting.
Tonight, i had the idea it would be nice to add some presence in the image. I think of one or more little monsters hidden in the shadows and looking at you - it could add a nice feeling of danger.
and...in this case, the symmetrical compo would be inadequate.
thank you very much for your comments.
I like old buildings very much: gothic and roman churchs, castles, cathedrals... So i was looking for reference on the web but i never found good websites. Maybe you know some ? |

you were right Rob. I moved the castle a little to the left, and it's definitely better. Thank you for your advice.
I began to work on details of the trees. I tried to work on the castle but after a while i deleted the layer. I couldn't get a good result. I have to work on this problem.

Images trs gentilles. Je les aime. Peut-tre il serait sage de mettre peu plus de dtail dans le chteau. |

I think the composition would benefit from the castle being in one of the upper left/right corner, or least somewhat off from center. That way the trail could lead the eye diagonally across the image giving a better sense of the distance.
I think the sketch looks great BTW. |

It's ok. Just don't get it too complicated. What I meant was- this is the good first step, with a larger brush. Try detailing it. |

unless you plan to add a complex object to the front part ... go on detailing the castle ... since you always mention it to be the most immportant part. additionaly drawing the path to it fine and sharp will add to the "there you are ...!" feeling
maybe you could try to leave the sky as it is. would make a fine effect on the final image. but i'm not sure about this. |

thank you very much. I feel more confiant.
It's the first time i work with colors in such a style and i'm not sure if i'm going the good way.
again, does somebody know a site where i could find some good ref about gothic/roman stuff ? I would more interested if it's about castles, because i have a lot of illustrated books at home, but i realised that there are only churchs and cathedrals in it. |

Btw, one thing i noticed a moment ago - there's nothing behind the castle. At least it looks like that. Either add some haze or some hills/whatever in the back. |

i worked on the castle. It's so difficult to add the right amount of detail. I'm not happy with it. What do you think about it ? Maybe some suggestions ? Some help would be very appreciated. I don't know how to make it look right and i am frustrated with it.
I put the castle on a little "mountain" (i don't know how to say it better in english). I gives it a more important-"dominating" aspect.
