Here he is. Before I go into detailing I'd like to get some feedback. Maybe you can help me with colour, composition, lightning and/or the overall idea. Why does he look so disneyish? Thank you for your time Overpaints and harshness welcome!!!

Looking good, the over-all composition and colors look very well balanced. The colors work well together too. I'd keep going and smooth things out, and define everything more.

Hey man, thats awesome! I love the colors! hehe.. soo you want me to come down hard on you eh? =D

Hmm the dino looks a bit disneyish because of the lack of detail on him.. if you add more detail, and make his waist longer, it would make him more realistic.. Right know he kinda looks like a beer belly :-) Also work on those front legs.. they don't seem big enough to support that body.

yeah, also.. I'm not sure how you want your dino to look, but I usually see dinosaurs as larger than treetops... however though, your painting is great man.. inspires me to do some painting :-)

keep on it

Hey, I just wanted to say that I like it. Really would like to see more detail in the rocks and trees. Yet I also like the simple pastel look. Have you ever seen the movie "Baby", reminds me of it but with fall colours.

My only comment is I'm not sure dinosaur shoulder blades would move like that...the body looks like a cat to me, and I thought dinosaurs had more elephant-like anatomy (the big ones anyway). Love the color scheme, but maybe a bit more detail in the rock he's actually standing on would help place him in the scene.

I really like it. I don't think the dinosaur looks disneyish, you may be getting that feels from the colors, because disney tends to do colorful films.
Talking about colours, I think the scheme works very well.

About the anatomy, well, I don't think this kind of dinosaurs looked like that, but maybe you don't want a reallistic looking dino. Otherwise, I recommend you to look for some reference drawings.

[EDIT] After looking at it again, maybe the dinosaur looks disneyish because of the misproportion between the legs and the body (what's been said about they not been able of supporting the body)[/EDIT]

I love it, and unless you were planning to add detail, I would leave it exactly as it is

I think the dinosaur is way to polished
next to the rest of the pic.

I would detail the rest and then blur
for the compisition.

I love it! the painterly feel is very well done, also the composition is quite good, my only gripe is how can those skinny lil legs hold up that massive torso?

Wow, so many replies.

motorfish: Thanks

Justa Fledgling: Thanks

Bradford: Thanks. That's what I want to do tonight.

Dry: thanks Well, that dino is the creation of my brain. He isn't supposed to be very much higher than a normal human. I thought it looked cool. But, well, on a second thought it looks unbelievable without those elephant stomper feet... I might change it, although I kinda grew fond of him.

Basement bound: Thanks Never seen this film. Or maybe I did and it had another title in germany. Can't remember... Adding more detail, sir!

Steelwind: Well, this dino is some weird mixture of a raptor, a cat and a usual brontosaur. He isn't supposed to be much higher than a human. More detail is on its way.

Ragnarok: Thanks. Hmmm... I get your point. But saying that he isn't really a lot higher than a human I think it could work like that. What do you think? I kinda fell in love with the rear-legs. I might change the front legs tho.

Grimsheep: Thanks I'm about to add more detail.

Poprocksz: Sir, yes, Sir! More detail coming in the next version.

AfterShoxX: Thanks Cool you like it.

lildragon: hehe. I'll try to change that, sir.

I like the way you've drawn rear legs, but I'll make them bigger or the tail smaller and definetely I'll change the front legs =).
Anyways, the pic as a whole is looking great.

This is cool! My only critique is with the anatomy of the dinosaur. Having reknowned palaeontologists as friends and associates, I absorb a lot of info from them. The dinosaur's legs don't really match the rest of the body. The body closely resembles that of a herbivorous (plant-eating) dinosaur with it's very rotund shape, while the angular legs and shoulders and such, especially the clawed-feet, say carnivorous (meat-eating) dinosaur to me. Having said that and the fact that it's a dinosaur from your imagination, who says it can't be a combination! Your repaint certainly makes it look more serpentine on the rest of the body so it's looking more carnivorous. But the overall composition and colors are wonderful! Their aren't too many Fall dinosaur paintings.

A few comments and a suggestion. I like the detail you added to the rocks, makes the pic look quite a bit better. Granted this is a fantasy dinosaur so it doesnt have to follow any rules, but the claws dont really fit the plant eating body style. Youve gotten a lot of complaints about the front legs and this makes 1 more. He looks balanced but it seems he might break his front legs quite often. Some of the new detail you added to the dino looks nice but some regions like the tail and face resemble a dry lake bed. Kind of a breaking apart like clay look. Maybe plan the lines out a little more.

<Ripping> Yes - good you moved the leg . I missed saying something before but i think the pose is a bit to static. It's a little better now but it still looks like a bit like it has a foot on each corner of a rectagle. And with the head and tail going straight ahead and aft this adds to it. Put some movement in it... It's about to drink? It has walked to the pond. Are there any enemys around? or prey?
The feet are also not firmly connected to the ground.
And yea - plan the scales a bit more. Lookup pics of crocs, lizards and snakes
</ripping>

phiu - hope that didn't come out too harsh

The colors and enviroment are totally lovly

[edit - spelling, a bit at least]

Ragnarok: I experimented with the front legs a lot, but I couldn't find a convincing result.

Shiro_tengu: fantasy dinosour out of my brains

Wyatt Turner: Thanks, mister.

The pond is still work in progress.
What do you guys think?
