..for a while (and fomr some strange reason) I have been thinking of reviving the good old Liono from the thundercats. I wanted to make him better, cooler more deadly and not "cute" or "kid-friendly" like the cartoon. I decided to draw him in a time way past the cartoon wre his was a bit older and without any of his counterparts. I am not a fan of the show or anything, so dont flame me on discrepancies Here is what I got so far.. I will definitely fix the swrod and the hands a bit. Also, the croping will be different will change to more horizontal 16:9 sorta set up. In case you are wondering the left hand is wearing Liono's glove, that is why is kinda blocky for now. The first left shoulder armor (closer to his head) probably needs some perpective work too.
Please tear it apart. I want to make sure most big issues are take care of before I finish the inking and coloring.

Check this out and tell us if he's still "cute" or "kid-friendly"
I also think those Model-Sheets will help you draw the character if you want to do more.
Cheers ! |

Thanks everyone for the posts. I actually did alot of research trying to find good captures of "Lion-O" but couldnt find much, other than crappy fan sites.
That really helps though Egerie! Thank you very much. From the beggining though i had already decided that he would not have the same costume as in the cartoons. I knew that when I brought him back , I wanted him to have a more of a Renaisance/fantasy sorta style I guess.. or something like that. So I did a couple of armor designs to see what would fit him best. I might post those up here later.. I also did not want to keep the look of his face too much. I wanted to give him more character, etc..
I know that behind any cartoon there is a lot of thought put into it, and maybe that is why Thundercats was popular, because of its characters. And look at me I chose it as a subject of my inspiration.
Those model sheets do help a lot with the sword and the "clawshield" thanks
Edit- Here is an small update with more inking (photoshop) and lighting.. still cleaning it up.
