Ok not my first. But my first that actually looks human! (and event that is debateable)
This one has got to the point that every time I touch it it looks worse and worse. So here it is for you to rip apart.
I used reference in the form of a picture of this celebrity
my self crits would be that I SLAUGHTERED the nose. I redid it countless times but I could not get it for the life of me. The hair is globby and not really hair at all. Whatever... I would love to know how to improve the whole thing. Thanks for any input

**added reference

i think the main problem is the proportions of the face. as you see, you made the face the same shape than the reference face and then just put in nose, mouth and eyes.
the result would be better if you constructed the head as a 3dimensioal thing, regarding some characteristic features of the picture.
then, you should insert rough guidelines what goes where, for example the eyes are always in the middle of the head (vertically seen) or at least around the middle. there are similar rules for eyes, mouth ears etc...
if you put in these, you should look at you rference pic: do her eyes be wide apart or are they near? does she have a long chin or a short one? with these characteristics, you can modify the constructed head and guidelines to fit her head more.
now, you can draw all the features and then color it.
or to say it in a more simple way: make a good sketch before starting ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |
