I really like this image for it's 2d-ishness. The only thing i don't like is the toe claws, they just don't have the same texture quality as the rest of the body.

Oh yeah, who else wears those needle things on their head... I've seen those before. Skarrj from Unreal? Some Star Wars char.? Predator?

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Ragnarok & Seth - I know what you mean about the light, I haven't really thought about it, he's just shaded with ambient light for now, once I decide on a background I'll throw in some dramatic lighting and shadows.

Sergenth - I'm not happy with the feet either, I really should redraw them completely... ugh. I just added in the headpiece decorations after someone commented that it looked like he was wearing a bridle, although now that you mention it, there was something very similar in Unreal alright.

Conor,

I like it. The image comes off as a variation on egyption hieroglyphs. I really didn't get a full 3d feel from the image; which I think works. Perhaps do the background the same way and apply a paper texture over all in Painter? You work reminds me of Roger Dean. Very nice.

Changed his feet and blocked in a background... what do you think, is this the way to go?

The forward leg looks a little off prespectively. Prehaps it needs to be a bit bigger than the othe leg to compensate for foreshorting.
Since you put the background in the creature looks as if it's floating in the air. It seems you did a quick shadow but maybe you should darken it a little more to define it better.

The sword is awesome! I love the look of the sword! Overall it's a wonderful pick

I like the feet a little better now. The background you threw in just doesn't seem to fit the picture. He looks too sharp to be in that blurred background. Maybe with an mountin or desert type of background it would look better.

I hope you dont mind me asking what youre up to now. I just heard that Funcom has closed, and seeing as i was hoping to return to ireland what other options are there for games industry artists? Or am i condemned to wandering the world for another few years?

Cheers
