Hi, Thanks for looking,

I've been working on this piece for the last few days, it's a table as part of a set of 3D models of furniture in this style.

I'm wondering whether or not to remove the 'monitors' from the top. Help!

depends what the monitors are used for. i think all this scene really needs is something to compare it's scale to. i couldnt even tell what it was before i read the description. throw some neo-forks\knives on there and have the center pillar piercing an octopus.

I think I'll scrap the monitors and put in a point of reference for scale, and identification. I didn't realise it looked THAT alien

So, not a good response on this one so far through the forums.

Does anyone actually like it? what about the quality of the image?

I can't tell if it's a model or a 2D painting/drawing. It looks pretty blurry.

Like you said, it could look better without the monitors at the top, and instead maybe have some sort of light?

I can't imagine what these aliens would look like, as they sit at the pointy parts of the table

Those are monitors???. Make the monitors look like they are displaying something, dont delete them just make them more display like. I think aliens should have at lease TFT technology

I'm also trying to imagine what kind of creature would sit there.. And with the monitors being so far away from the seat I see a very lean perhaps long necked kind of creature squinting to read "what's on those darn screens"..

Now on an ergonomical point of view, the seating being positionned at the pointy part of the table leaves me a bit perplex.. I think a lot of ppl try to imagine what it'd be like to sit in the space you've just created and for me I'd be highly unconfortable being there. No room to put my forearms comfortably etc.

Btw, are those little 'piano pedals' under the table fonctional or only for the sake of aesthetics ?

I really like the urm.. subtle values in the table top. it looks like a carved glass panel.
Quality of the image is fine but as mentionned, too blury.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, but just to clarify:

1. It's not alien, its for Humans.

2. people DO NOT sit at the pointy parts of the table (for obvious reasons) they sit in the curved groove, spaces for 6 people.

3. I have removed the monitors now and made the image clearer, I'll post it when I have finished all the renders.

Thanks again for replying guys.

-Darkglade.

i think it looks great, something i would buy for my house

however, i agree, don't delete the moniters, just have them displaying something, like a menu or something, and sharpen it up a bit, other then that, great work!

So all our crits and comments were irrelevant, since we thought it was for aliens, they were seats, etc.

Now that I know what it's for I think it's better. You haven't posted the new pic yet, but perhaps if the monitors are larger? And I like the idea of the foot rests at the bottom. They remind me of those footrests in an airplane which I find totally useless and not even comfortable, but I use them because they're there.

Can't wait to see the new pic.

I'm kinda lost. You want to know where or not to remove it when you had a 3D model where you could render both images, put them side by side and say "which is better"? What are they to be used for, give us some context? Seems to me that in one breath you are asking a question and answering in the next. me and my small brain confused.

Well, you certainly sound confused. It's my fault for not doing that, but I forgot to do that (it's been a while since I posted).

the sharper render is better. i still really think you should add some untencils or other random things on the table just to clarify the proportion of everything. what are those dirty marks on the transparent surface?

the scale will be more aparrent once I've finished the set of 3, and got the chairs finished.

The tabletop is not transparent.

I kinda liked the monitors... but that's just me...

Really like the foot rests. Ergonomically and aesthetically.

Do I have to share my arm rest with the two people sitting next to me? Damn. They look springy - it may be irritating/dangerous (fork in eye!?) if they're shuffling around and bouncing my arm around...

Can't wait to see the chairs!
