Thanks for the feedback edible.
And well, she is mirrored, so I guess both eyes are droopy..
I added a few more angles of it..not 100% sure if I should change it...the eyes are not completly finished, its just a map so far. going to make the iris properly.
Anyway, theres more renders here
eyes were a bit big, made them smaller, that helped a bit.

Lighting on sub28.jpg looks very nice indeed - is that the Brazil renderer?
Out of interest, how long did the render take? I've had a faked global illumination render going on all this weekend - it's a 500 frame animation. My poor athlon processor hasn't dropped below 67C since Friday morning...
IMO, GI is generally total overkill, particularly for animations. I was just curious how long it would take in my case, and what a GI-rendered animation would look like. You generally only see them static. |

Catfish: yes its brazil. Love it
If I remember correctly the render took 3 minutes or so..its not so bad really..
I think GI rendered animations are becoming more and more common. In animations too. Brazil is really quite fast, and if you cut down on number of bounces and GI/Image samples it should work fine. Just as fast as placing out a lot of lights to fake GI. You should just download it and test.
go to www.splutterfish.com the alpha is free so you can play around as much as you want. |

Sadly, I can't. Brazil is quite nice, but I use Maya, which is even nicer.
And, IMO, the time that you spend setting up extra lights in a non-GI renderer more than balances out the time taken in a GI renderer, particularly in complex scenes.
I have a script that sets up a dome of lights around my scene, producing results more or less the same as a GI renderer, in about 1/10th of the time.
Of course, if you have a renderfarm of SGI machines whacking away on your render, then GI suddenly looks somewhat more appealing...
[EDIT: Incidentally - there's some nice work on your website. I particularly like that first girl in the 2D section for some reason - the one on the right in the black top.
What did you use for the hair on the girl on hrtest2.jpg ?
And while we're at it, how'd you do the water video? I've been having trouble doing realistically moving water...
I like your background work, too. After spending huge amounts of time on the main characters, I'm too impatient to do much work on the actual scenery ]
