Hullo...
I am about to do this piece which takes place in an ice cave...this is just a quick rough...but I find it really difficult to get the colors right.
There are two persons burried in the icelake.

Any suggestions, references or tips would be great... coffee dosn't help anymore ;-)

Thanks in advance.

Thanks jerO...now i've added more blue overall! I tried to sharpen up the edges, but have a hard time getting the colour-perspective right - does anybody have ideas or tips to increase the sense of depth in this piece?

Thanx.

n-ICE!

i'd suggest either getting rid of the top beyond-crevasse detail or trying to push it further back somehow.

I'm thinking if you mask off a hue-saturation adjustment layer and make the stuff in the back lighter and less saturated that would help. Blurring the distant stuff a bit would push it back too.
Just some thoughts.

I'm sure there are better examples out there. But you get the idea.

hey.. looking good. yeah i think some reflections would be good, but they should be blurry and distorted. ice isn't always shiny. if this is supposed to be out in the artic or whatever, then the ice souldnt be very shiny at all. i think it would be covered in frost and be fairly rough, but anyway, just something to think about. keep at it

this is a cave right?

Then think about your light source.
If it's deep within the cave, then the light source would probably be one or more torches.
If close to the enterance, then natural light would do.

Either way the light won't be travelling far...
So the back of the cave should be allmost black, and the ice closest to the light source(s) should be close to white (or if you'r using flameing torches as a light source, the ice should reflect the yellow/orange light)

great idea, the only thing i can sugest is that if this is more fantasy style than reality, then look to the ice crystal chase on Titan AE, could help u alot...

The film would be better, but heres a site that has trailers that might be possible to use... Titan AE trailers
