Hi! Noob here on Sijun, heard the critiques can be rough here, but could always use helpful hints and suggestions like on PolyKarbon.com. Here are just some sketches of various fantasy characters from past and present RPGs I was or am involved in. The elves were friends' characters, and the brownish one are ones I made up. Critique to your heart's content, but please be kind!

You got the detail thing down. Really nice looking armor.
But the anatomy needs a little work (doesn't it always?). For the most part it's pretty good, but what I noticed was on the bottom drawing, her left forearm is bend at a weird angle. It'd have to be broken to do what it's doing. And the boobs are shifted over to the left too much. The left most one is practicaly growing out of the side of the chest!
But that middle one's awesome! Great perspective. |

nice character sketches, overall very good in detail and pose. i would try to work on the quality of your line some more, paying attention to that more than anything. |

Hey, thanx for the kind words and suggestions! Yeah, my style has been described as sketchy and unclean, lol, and the harder I try to make everything cleaner, the more a mess I generally make.
Line width is something I'll need to work at, and not surpisingly, I suck royally at inking. Lazy bum that I am, I'm currently learning how to "ink" pencil drawings using Illustrator and the pen tool instead to see if the results are better for possible CGing.
As for the anatomy, I'll keep working at it, thanks! Though I'm still unsure how to complete the rest of the swashbuckler lady's body (the brown pic), but I'm fairly happy with the snake tattoo lady.
As for the last pic, I'm a sucker for butt shots, lol, guess I got a bit carried away, heh. I did like the way her face, hair, and upper sword came out.
I personally like the middle pic too, it's got a dynamic action pose thing going, something I've been trying to work on since I create mostly static portraits of figures just standing there looking pretty. Her lower body I'm having trouble with, however, since her breasts seem to get in the way of her bowstring.
Anyway, thanks for the tips! Back to the drawing board for me. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
