Hey,
Here's some work for a splashpage for my site. Started as a closeup of a orcs face but quickly grew to a wide shot of a battlefield full of charging orcs.
The upper image is the main character in detail. I started with a real rough sketch and redefined part by part, often completely redraw it.
The 2 other shots are composition/setting quickies.
The left one I did in the beginning when I didn't have a clue about what I wanted, as it shows :) The other one I after the orc was (mostly) finished. Composition still sucks and I'll add two extra orcs in detail on both sides of the main character, making the shot a bit wider.
Probably stick with the new color setting. I Really like it. Depth is still nowhere to be seen :)) Still need to think about a way to make the rest of the shot a bit more interesting. Nevertheless I like how this second one turned out.
A little note: Draw everything with a sucky ROUND apple mouse (can't figure out how the hell the came up with such a concept :)). But you get used to it :))

i can't believe no replies, although i can't over much crit ither. I can say that by the look of the small rendering on the right that its gonna kick ass in the end. I don't see anything wrong wiht composition, it seems ok, and you don't want to make it too cluttered and take over the focus with the other two orcs. I'd make this one the leader, and add more further back behind him, give him a banner or something. Can't help you with depth much accept to use less different colors and values further back cus they all bleed together. I'd add some big machinery on the horizon, like a catapult or something more high tech maybee. Anyway post the finished ASAP. |

When your adding things to the background the theory is that whatever it is your adding, it will lose it's color as it reciedes into space. Becoming more like the color of the back ground it's receiding into. Did you get your idea from the war craft 3 movie? Not slamming you if you did. I think it's hipocracy for any artistit to say they invented everything in their works. However, the object is to make your visual experiences your own response to something. Anyhow, you've got some talent, keep at it. |

Really nice drawing! It would be cool if you can keep the energy of the small thumbnail (the one on the right) in the final picture. Don't make everything in perfect focus with nice, clean colors. It would really add to the feeling of being in the middle of the battle. |
