Hi there,
after i made my first bad face picture ( Face 1 ) i tried to draw another face and this time i worked a bit longer (the whole night w/ sleeping) on it...
but i still unhappy with it... its wrong... it's got no personality...

hmm, lets see...
first of all, the picture is a bit blurry and undefined. Secondly, the face and the neck are way too long. The face is also a bit flat...
You *need* to get an understanding of the anatomy of the head. Try looking at people around you and try to "see" the way their bones (like the cheekbone and so forth) build up the structure of the face. I would also recommend you to take a look in a good anatomy book or something similar.
Also try to see how other artists draw people and try to find out what makes their drawings good and what they do to bring out the skeletal and muscular structure. |

yep, just try to get some pictures of skulls or download the loomis book at one of the innummerable links in the digital art discussion board...
i would prefer a more in-depth literature about anatomy, even if you nevermind most of it... the way loomis makes the body easier isn't very sympathetic to me. but thats my opinion. get it, read it and then try again
maybe you could get used to hard edged brushes a little bit more to have more contour in the face. this could also be what you describa as a lack of character |
