add more shadows to show depth.
and yes...use a hard edged brush not an airbrush. |

yeah, but make sure that it is set to multiply so that it will not coverup your black lines.

I remember your thread and I don't think that you quite understood what they were suggesting. first paint the picture on a layer that is set at multiply, and as if you were in grade 6 again. For instance and apple just green for the leaf, just red for the apple etc... no variance. this way you picture will not look as though you haven't finished painting it. then go in and choose and paint darker/lighter colours for shadows and high lights.
Remember use the hard edge brush first the go to the soft. Look at what I have done to your image and see if it makes sence. |

Why did I post twice?
double-click... too much sugar... I go koo-koo for coco puffs.

Sorry, not clear, A?
*Open original sketch.
*Duplicte backgroud layer.(call it lineart)
*Erase BackGround area on the lineart layer.
*Clear/erase everything on orig. BG (use this layer to colour the backgroud, just get crazy).
*New layer ontop of lineart (set to multiply). Paint with your hard edge brush your flat/local colours or the mid-tone colours of the object, not primary those are the colours red, blue and yellow.
*Then it is your choice to create other layers for shading, etc. It all depends if you like working over top of your work and not afraid to make mistakes. Here you can use either/or hard/soft brushes.
Tip: make sure that you brush is set with the opacity on so that you lighter brush strokes turn up lighter, if you are using a tablet. And Oooooonnnnnnneeeee mmooooorrrre thinnnngggg.(from jackie chans cartoon) work up your shadows and highlights with soft brush strokes.
I hope I am clear this time.
