Well its back... my second home.

this is what I've been up to.

here is a new try at modeling a car...
a cleaner approach to styling
any idea's and thoughts are welcome.
if you see some thing please warn me before I go to far..

old-rhino3d screen shots

and lastnights updated model... This baby kicks ass. Loving this model... Little more work and this babys ready to roll..

goin for an older euro-design off-road rally car...

Got a list of things to do... but its getting there...
I might get insane and model the.. Motor and axl/driveling tranny etc.. and suspension... maybe a internal role cage and some shocks and Independant suspension... Awhhh the list can keep going on... But I need to fix a few minor details gas cap, light bulbs body work... And a nice paint job... What color should I go for with this one? Maybe a light color mixed with some kinda paint fleck/charcol effect. not sure what do you think?

looking pretty good so far, but why did you INVERSE all of your images? It looks better with the highlights and shadows in the right order :-P

Looks like you have a lot of detail, are their going to be many close-ups? If there are areas you know won't be scrutinized by the camera I say save your processor time and put details in with texture maps (small grates, lines, trims, etc..)

Can't wait to see it all textured and rendered out, nice work.

its gonna be shizzo of my nizzo... Fully detailed.. where I can... Looking at the model from the front gives me a headache.. all them lovely lines of mesh.... I modeled the arrow turn blinkers on the dash too. gonna go nutz. My computers up to the task.. hehehe. Captain I need more memory... :?
I also detailed allot of grill with all filleted edges. Ahhh the inverted image... something I like to fuck wit. its only an exmple of the model... I thought it pulled the interior out a little bit more.. ahhhhhh let the texture fun begin this weekend.

sweeeeeet =)

walk over to ford or gm and let them build this baby =) i want at least one of it

which program do you use for modelling?

for the color, i would give it some very typical "old-fashioned" colors: a very light blue as a base with some horizontal stripes in black, white and brown or something like that... nice job!

gekitsu thanks...
Now I can color... How about a Black car-with gold stripe and some text(the name of the car) across the bottom of the door... or light blue-orange-stripe.

I need to try a paint that has a glittery feel to it. maybe the gold stripe.

I used Rhino3D to model this baby. And rendering in Max4.

if interest check out other cars Ive made at my forum page Eighdecay forum

If it were me spraying a car like that I'd go for the Yellow car / twin black racing stripes up the middle with a black band along the bottom of both sides / doors and some plush black leather interior =)

Eight ball on the shifter and maybe some fatter exhaust outlets on the back for a touch of style? =)

>>Oh yeah, and black on the flares over the wheels...im thinking mostly of the styling on the old GT's over here that always look so damned sweet......

Hmm just a few ideas (I love the model btw)
Shorten the lenght of the bumper, have the wheels be closer to the front, look at Miatas, Z3's or Lotus Elises for references.
Maybe make the tires bigger, there is a big space on the wheelwells, then again it looks different on the normal renders.
Now is the car supposed to be a 60's cars or one of those retro concepts that we are seeing nowadays?
As far as color, if it's a rally car then you can do pretty much anything you want, I'd say a hugger orange(red) with a black racing stripe could look cool (think Mustangs and Camaros)

Really cool looking, great work

Hey that's looking sweet.
I like the logo and the hornet name on the stripes, even though I am almost sure there's was a car named hornet before.
In any event, I like it.

Before I go any further, I want to say that I REALLY, REALLY like this design. It has a good blending of old and new with a heavy retro look. It's gorgeous and INCREDIBLY well modeled. The only problems I have are not at all artistic, but technical.

When I look at it, the only thing that comes to mind is how much everything is shifted back, and how long the hood is. I can't help but think that it would just about HAVE to be front-engine, front-drive. It just seems like if it were rear-wheel-drive, all of the weight would shift back and lift the front end up too easily. This would hurt handling if it's supposed to be a touring/rally car. It doesn't really look like there's anything that would put much downforce on the front end aside from the high-sloping front windshield, which makes the spoiler in the back more or less non-functional.

The other reason I feel like it should be FWD is because it doesn't look like there's much room in the back for a differential. Maybe independent rear suspension? Still, with all the weight going back and only wind resistance holding the front down, that doesn't really matter.

It's a beautiful and elegant design, but it looks like it would be very hard to drive at high-speeds by modern standards.
