I suggest that this kicks ass, and the one on the left is much better, because that line indicating her nose, saves it from looking too flat, as it does on the right.
I also suggest that she has amazing eyes, and I'm inspired to do something stemming from those remarkable eyes.
I wrap up by suggesting you keep updating and posting more of this remarkable stuff you're producing. For the most part, I hate Japanimation/manga/anime, that's interpreted by non-pros... that is, Japanese artists, making hella money... and even then only once every so often. This, however, is a strong example of why I don't 'hate' all of that type of art. You do it justice...
Sorta like Faith Hill does (ewww) country music justice. |

Hey Guylon,
She's wonderful man, I really like the eyes as well. I like the one with the outline a bit better. I think one thing that may help would be to vary the width of the outline. The line on the right side of the face is just as thick as the left, but that's where the highlight is. I think that the thick line destroys the shading, when it should enhance it. As well, it you clean the line up a bit, I think it'll look a lot smoother, which based on the nice tender shading on her face, is what you're looking for.
but i dig the shize a lot man.

Mmm ... the outline can't be redone, but it can be .. shaped perhaps .. dunno, I'll make some experiments later ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

very very cool, man... some parts of the outline work, but others don't work so well... i remember what i did when i couldn't redo my outline was i place the outline as the top layer and played around with different layer and opacity settings... i think color dodge worked nicely, as did overlay... but i can't really remember... :P
just a thought... (also, that would mean that the lines wouldn't interfere with the highlights, like smothered mentioned)
cheers,

I am glad you took away the black lines, she looks much more soft and delicate. My only suggestion is that her right-upper arm the shading doesn't look right to me. Second is the ab area is a little too sculpted, perhaps lighten the whole area and lower the general cantrast of the midsection.

Awesome work Guylon. I for one really dig this kind of manga/ anime stuff. But i gotta second the stomach muscle crit, just a bit too well defined and maybe a bit circular (like a pack of hotcross buns?) anyways keep up the wicked work. |

nice work!
if you want to draw an outline or not, depens from the kind of manga-artwork you want to create.
if you want a really "artworkized"-picture, you should kick the outline and go for shading that replaces the order, the outline puts in the pic.
if you want a more manga-ish artwork, you have to draw an outline and therefore don't put hell of details in the shading. this kind of picture is also the one, that is more made for quick.understanding a pic.
the other one needs a) a really good shading and b) someone who is willing to take a longer look at it than on the outlined version.
one of the best solutions in this case seems the shirow-like solution: (shirow is one of the best manga-artists imho) make a fine black or dark grey outline which is dominant on flatshaded places and doesn't disturb everything when its nearby detailed things.
hope, i helped ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Well, it's done though ... but maybe still needs some retouch on her hands.
