Hey all
Here's a quick sketch I started a while ago and have recently decided to go all the way with it. I'm thinking of inserting two human victims. The scene will be against a black or really dark corridor type background with the victims and the alien, undernieth a spotlight.
The sketch obviously needs cleaning up but I just wanted some crits based on composition and stuff like that. Don't hesitate to tell me what you think.

Hmmm, yes I remember this, and I still like it...
ERm, I like the hand there, looks very cool, It would be nice to see the other hand on the other side, perhaps bent all the way back. That way, if the body was turned to be upright it would look like he's recoiling from something.
Then you could have him stretched up in front on 5 or 6 marines, kindof holding them at bay.
Cool stuff.
Oh, I would exnay the scond mouth, at least make it wider and smaller...

I really like this image, and since i'm a big fan of the Alien movies, i would like to see this pic completed......because its hand is in that position, it would look mad if it was holding a severed marines head ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Actually I was going to have it falling from the ceiling on two unarmed civilians in Weyland Yutani uniforms. Or have it popping out from behind a really heavily armed soldier, using his brain chewing gum.
Essentially, the only thing that's certain is that the entire alien will not be in view. I want the legs and midsection to be partially hidden by darkness. I'll probably have it's tail curled around it's would be victim. I'll post cleaner, more complete version soon. Untill then, keep those crits comming. |

Hey again.
Here's the latest from twenty minutes of toil in painter. I cleaned it up a bit, defined the basic shape more, added detail and marine and re-did the second jaw andlips and the alien to make it look more menacing. I hope you like it. Thanks for the positive feedback too.
Next, I going to finish the sketch, I might just completely redo the marine. It's way to small I think. The actual image on my hard drive is about 1600 x 1400. I zoomed into an area to draw the marine and it turns out I accidentally made it too tiny. I guess the alien can use him as a toothpick.

Thanks, The line sketch will be done soon so I can begin on coloring and that kind of stuff. I'll proabably post the colored version in a new thread.
I've also replaced the marine with a company sercurity hazmat type soldier, with a gun bigger than his leg (the gun's my favorate part).
Anyway, feel free to post some crits, suggestions, questions or comments. Whatever.

By the way, my website is going down tomarrow so I can clean it up and maybe make it more graphically inclusive. |

hey again
I took a break from this particular project to work on something else but I started back up on it this morning. I replaced the USMC marine for an unfamiliar hazmat armor type marine. The gun has barrowed elements from the pulse-rifle in aliens and the alien resurrection security type rifle. Can you notice the second trigger on the stock?
Tell me what you think. Like it better worse, worse? Again suggestions, crits, questions and comments are welcome.
here's a close up of the marine. You can see the motion sensor on his arm and the numerical round counter on the rifle.

hi man,
congratulations for your work, keep on it.
i should make the human's head smaller (or bigger the body), curve a little the alien's back/dorsal spine to make him more dinamic, and maybe you should try to overlap the two characters to help composition and movement...
see you! ![](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

Thanks, I just fixed the head. I tried resizing it but I got the feeling that that wasn't the problem, since it seems to be in correct proportion when I compare it to the hands. So what I did, was just lower it a little so the neck didn't look so long, I think it looks much better.
So, what do you think of the gun and armor? I must say, that for the armor I did use a little bit of a reference but not much. Has anyone here seen the graphic novel, Aliens: Labyrinth? I barrowed elements from that for the chestplate of the MPs. Anyway, the lineart is almost finished and I'll post something as soon as I can |

Wow that's really great. Both the marine and the alien itself reminds me of the style used in the comic Aliens:Labyrinth, one of the best drawn aliens limited series. Can't wait to see this with some color ! |

Labyrinth was of course done entirely by Killian Plunket. If you like a good 'Stanley Kubrick' type plot and excessive ammounts of gore, go pick it up.
I regard Killian Plunket and Cam Kennedy (Star Wars: Dark Empire 1 & 2, Boba Fett: Death, Lies and Treachery) as the greatest artists in the comic book genre. I like their raw ability to show detail and then paint over it with dark, moody water colors.
Thanks. Though I do hope it doesn't remind you too much of someone else's style.
Oh yeah, I just got new Idea about the scene as a whole. I was thinking of having a dead body (brains spilled out through a hole in the head of course) and a woman trying to wrestle a weapon away from it, all at the soldiers feet. I figure, the star of the alien series has always been a strong independant woman, so why should this be an exception? Since I doubt that the soldier has the millisecond needed to raise his weapon, the alien will be snacking on his head for sure, giving the woman, enough time to blow the alien away. what do you think?

hey exo, awesome pic, i love the idea for your composition, especially with the woman trying to get the weapon off the dead body... something bugs me about the positioning of the soldier, though... it seems as if he should be looking more behind himself than he is... maybe kind like looking slightly over his shoulder, coz it looks like the alien is coming from slightly behind him (in the context of the pic, that is)... aside from that, it's looking awesome, and i can't wait to see the rest of it, espeically the woman trying to grab for a weapon... :P
cheers,
