I haven't tried posting an image before.. so this is kind of a test..

Try and use a full front image not quarter turned. It will make your modeling easier.
Besides that you might also want to sketch a simplified version of the basic shapes of your character this helps me figure out how I am going to build a character. Remember most of the details on a low-poly-char can be made with the Texturing.
I'd like to see it as you are working on it.
