You need to do figure drawing from life, and study anatomy. Right now the basic anatomy is the biggest issue, especially on the head. Try looking at Loomis' book, http://www.yoyodyne.net/Projects/loomis/index.html - it's the best resource around for figure drawing. A second comment, on the armor. In general, armor will overlay from the top down, rather than the bottom up like it is here. The reason being that gravity holds top down sections down, whereas bottom up ones would tend to flap open, leaving more of a place for the opponent to stick his sword(also it's harder to see an opening if it's facing down). Good luck, and welcome to the forum. |

yeah, i know i have much work to do on the human figure...i have a few books on it, and i practice it like crazy, but when it comes to applying it without looking at the book, i tend to mess up. i usually draw with a reference, but i like to test myself every now and then.
i'm suprised no one has mentioned the shadowing...the shadow he casts is completely out of sync with the lighting on his body
and about the armor, i know armor usually folds from the top, but i actually got that from a photo of ancient armor (just that abdomen peice)
thanks for the crits |

Ahhhh thats a shadow.. i liked it more when I thought of it as a mirror, or water or sumthing. It would look a lot nicer if you made darker shadows also, or maybe a more defined light source. keep drawin buddy |
