I need a good name to put on it. So if you feel the need to help me. I'm thinking of something that means sharp or arrow like. Not sure but I would like to see what you can think of. Thanks and Bye Bye.. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

I saw a ship once that was named "Kestrel Dart", that stuck in my mind for some reason...
Cool image. Comments? Maybe less stars, less evenly distributed. The lightsource would seem to be the bright flare to the left, but the light shines on the ship mostly from the right, which seems a bit odd. The ambient may be too high also, it's hard to tell, in any case I think there's too much soft bland light hitting the ship from too many different directions. Look at this real image of a space station, note almost all stars are invisible, and the contrasts are huge between dark and light. Note also how important radiosity (bouncing light) becomes.

How come the lightsource isn't coming from where the lensflare is on the render? The model is very good, spend more time on textures tho, and as steve said, lighting. Lighting and texture can make the most crappy model look photoreal. |

Right well few comments for you:
I agree with the others, lighting is slightly odd. As for the model, me and ma friend reckon the engines are a bit small, my friend reckons you should cut em off and turn it into a shuttle whereas I'd say just increase size and maybe make them hang underneath the main hull of the ship. Also, some windows would look cool. For the background I would remove some of those stars and maybe put something interesting in like a nebula or comet. |

you guys you guys, jeezzz. I'm not done... now you got me cryin.
Just kiddin.
Yeah I was messin around real quick, as you can see in the render.
But I'm still testing the textures.
So I still have plenty of work to do.
If I only had the time to do so.
But Yes the lighting is just there for testing of the Glossyness of the ship. As you can see in the rear of the ship you can see the pannel map coming through.
I don't think I'm going to change the Nacelles. It's just the look I'm going for.
Yeah that lense Flare was ploped on with Photoshop real quick without thought.
Well it seem you guys are looking. .... Well those stars are really just a quick thing done in 3dsMAX. just to fill space.
But again thanks for the comments.
(I'm Still looking for some names from you guy.) what should this thing be called any good Ideas?

Is it in space, or a salt pit? The ship design is nice. |

Here is some more work on the Current STAR TREK ship design. But I went back to the modeling stage of things to see if I can work in some more detail. For now this is a test for the texture and lighting. Ok and I dimed down the stars for you freeks. And a little planetoid. But as usual I didn't save the settings and lighting and so the Locking up began. Back to the drawing board. :/
My new design has incorporated a roll bar type of structure with Photon banks up above the brigde. You will see this in the next post. After I do a little more.
Here is a new toy I'm messing with. But far from finished.. I'm still in the modeling stage of things. But the parts in the front are what I was striving for. Just a Idea that poped into my head and had to get out the concept

Oooh! Space ships! ME likes!
For the start trek ship, looks cool, getting there man.
The big bulky ship, make the big deck guns have smaller cannons, and maybe make them more "cubic" rather than round, the round look tends to look rather old..(like the ships from the original star trek looks old compared to voyager..). Also on the big ship i would like to see some looong antennas sticking out of the nose, that would look cool! ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

Halogenic- thanks.. I'm getting there. But that sound like a good set of Ideas for the bulky ship. I think I might work some antena's in but the docking latch is on the front. The main rectangle bar is going to be a defector dish of sorts. I think I will make a combo of both round and rectangular gun turents. |

Hey you're gonna need droids to fix these ships! They are not R2 units, but they are salvaged from a Galactic version of 'Junkyward Wars'. Note that this droid in particular is under construction...his engine will be in that frame you see..inspired somewhat from Agent 44's cool pic with the guy with an engine in his chest.

Hey nifty. droid. Looks like there is some detail involved. Is that like a LCD display for a face. Cool. |
