He's a Frill-Neck Lizard. I'm developing him as a mascot for a child care center. Trying to get some personality into him (he's very proper, you know)...

I like it, especially the colours and thetechnique... But I think the head and the arms of the coloured version look quite strange... The head doesnt seem connected with the body IMHO |

IMO, should probably be simpler in color scheme and such. Most children's stuff is simple, but in bright colors like kids like. It's one reason I think they like cartoons so much, apart from the humor being geared to them most of the time. Nice character, though. Would a cane or monocle (like the planter's peanut guy has) make him seem a little more proper?
Just my thoughts. |

Young kids are attracted to primary colors. You may consider utilizing those brighter, more vibrant colors more. |

St. Seneca is absolutely right. I work for a firm that does alot of of kid oriented work. More than likely you've seen what we do a hundred times. And I know from my experiences. Color that can be translated as "dirty" with a lot of browns, blacks, etc, doesn't really fly well... So like Seneca said try to stay away from that. Make the coloring, dare I say it, (cause I hate when it's described this way), but make the coloring "more fun"... there i said it, now I'm a corporate sell out like the rest of the graphic design industry, but good luck can't wait to see the finished piece..

I think the reason the head seems off is because it's too far back. |
