cool orc!... okay crit you wanted: Main thing what bugs me is the background: Too much contrast to your orc. I would suggest to choose a little cooler color. What is on his left shoulder the black area? Tattoo? well.. anyway it's flattening his arm. yep.. left leg has some problems but you're fixing them.... |

Aren't you gonna finish it? Only one reply because a.) many of us are too lazy b.) we know that you can do better and just refused to reply c.) better to learn by yourself d.) it sucks e.) All of the above f.) none of the above.
hehe, choose one of them :0
Well anyway, one thing I think you need to pick up is try not to use the opacity setting so much at first (especially with the black and white) use lighter greens or darker greens to make it look better. Try experimenting with blocking in solid colors first and slowly work from there. |

Hi there....nice start you have..
Definitely try establishing a light source first...is the light above him? Ambient? Below or from the back? This would affect everything. One thing I do is to sort of tone out the character with greys, then paint over that. Of course, that gray is a watercolor tool in Painter, so it does not disturb my lines...(unless you want that totally painted look). So after I tone up the drawing, you know, define the form with greys, I would go in with color, as some areas wouldn't get as much color saturation once they are in shadow. Course..I am still learning to paint better..but that is what I do....
Anyway..keep it up..looking good..oh yeah the leg muscles are slightly different...it didn't bother me too much but feel free to fix it if you like...the right leg (our POV) muscles seem a bit longer and such.
Good luck.

Well it looks like the light is coming from our left...so I'd simply beef up the light and shadow more...see if you can make shadows casting on top of other parts of his body...that axe would cast some cool shadows too, and he'd have a hard light on one side...depending on where the light is exactly, the brightest part of the light on the left may meet the darkest part of the shadow as it goes across the body...that would be almost silhouette tho...
Just some thoughts.
