As of late I haven't had a hell of alot of time to hit the forum, so I don't know what kind of traffic comes to the WIP section.. but this pic is kinda influenced by some of the talented members here.. In particular, Isric's stuff, as well as Enayla's they have a nice dreamy feel to their pics, that inspired me to try to at least achieve that direction. Alot of things have to be clarified in this one, but I just wanted to get some initial opinions before I went into finishing it... So please, everyone give me some comments to help me along..
thanks.... |

Looks very nice so far. As for the dreamy feel that you said you wanted I think you are getting very close if you mean a haze like draem state.(does that make sense?). When you first said dreamy I was thinking of a more surreal type of image. This image converys alot about the atmospehre witht he water and looks like light fog in the background, great work with light and shadow. Definataly finish this one.
And one question from me......you using PhotoShop or Painter?
looking forward to seeing hte finished piece. |

I like the atmosphere in this one. It's like when everything is overcast but there is a distant clearing in the couds that allows sunlight through. Then everything has that strange look to is as if both overcast and morning sunlight are occuring at the same time.
I'm sure the perspective is probably correct but something troubles me about the top of the fountain. |

I usually leave out my "Awesome work" comments because of it's pointlessness but I must say... Awesome work indeed!!! |

something is off about the perspective of some of the objects but the dreamyness is damn cool in the background.. u might want to rethink that window on the right.. make a cool fantasy type leaded window to match the dreamyness of the background |

thanks for the comments!!!
Hippie - exactly how you see it is what I wanted to portray. I always use Photoshop, and a mouse (too cheap to get a tablet)
Gimbal8 - actually none of this was really drawn with any real mechanical lines. I strted to do a model in a 3-d program, but it kept turning out to be a different composition than I envisioned in my head. So you are absolutely correct about the fountain, as well as some of the other perspective. What I did was just get the objects and forms down in a way that I pictured it, I planned on going back into it with a draw over of proper perspective. I just wasn't sure if it actually came across as an eyesore. I felt there was a problem with it, but I needed to hear another confirmation on that one, so thanks buddy I appreciate it..
Myself - good idea!!!! This pic is for my portfolio, but initially it's for a girl friend of mine... Being a guy, I don't usually think about things that would be appealing to a girl, and butterflies never even crossed my mind.. Good addition idea, it could help to add some more color to it!!!!
Bradford - I like pointlessness.. I'm a graphic designer for a living
edible snowman - totally agree, like what I said to Gimbal8, what you see here, could be described as "pushing paint" when I started it, I thought it would be a nice color sketch, so I didn't get technical with it. Now it's clear I have to refine it..
shardik - definitely the perspective will be dealt with. and that's another good point about the window.. I just need to get some reference. Now where the hell do I find good reference????
thanks for the comments guys, I'll post the finished one as soon as it's done..
later |

Personally, I think you should leave the glass as is. Not everything has to match perspective exactly. . . maybe the stained glass was cut to mess with our heads! I like the reflective edge it seems to have ona few of the panes the most. |

So I guess I'm the only one who can't log into tbns.net or see anything posted there... sigh. Oh yeah, someone's sig reminded me of a great Simpson's quote:
"A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man."

Dr.Squirley -
SpiralEye - thanks, I never looked at it in that way... but the window was drawn like the rest, totally frehand, devoid of any mechanical lines.. I know if I put a rule to it, there will be a tons of mistakes.. I have no idea if I will or not.. but it's interesting to hear your point of view..
sacrelicious - how bout this one...
Homer: "Oh, Lord, why do you mock me?"
Marge: "That's not God.That's just a waffle Bart threw up there."
Homer: "I know I shouldn't eat thee but... mmm... sacrelicious!" |
