hey ppl
did this in 2 hours (yes! _that_ long)
i was tired but felt like doing something in painter so decided to take a break from my 'Whos Next' pic and also to try my hand at backgrounds and colouring (as i suck at them so much).
i only started out to do a mountain :P
lemme know what u think
should i just stick to characters? or maybe even give up on them too as i only got 1 reply for my Whos Next pic :[

Definitely keep at it. Making yourself work on projects that you know are a challenge is tough to do. Bravo.
You started to capture some good cloud forms on the right there. I can see some cross hatching in the midtones that doesn't fit. The loose scratches in the mountain take away from the values that you were building up. Maybe just vary your brush size and opacity to bring out some form. |

hey again
wasn't sure whether to work anymore on this pic but now i will!
the_monkey: took me several attempts to get them like that.. wasn't too sure about em tho :]
drimmen: yeah.. it was hard work persuading myself to do something i know i'm no good at. that midtone crosshatching - wasn't me.. was painter's airbrush.. for some reason it does that if set beyond a certain size.. i didn't notice it (will smooth later) chrz for that. and the mountain? the scratches were just sketch lines which will be smoothed out then detailed more :]
thnx guys
was playing around with the UFO.. came up with these.
which one do you think looks better?
personally i prefer Found3 ![](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

reminds me of "close encounters of the third kind" everything just looks flat to me tho
gimme some depth.. especially in those clouds... since u are looking up at this ufo, look up in the sky and see what the clouds look like from below
oh and i like the last one
