Well, what exactly do you want? He looks cool, nice technique, what did you have problems with? At least I cannot do much better (considering its not finished)
The only thing is his legs seem to curve to the left, like he is falling while keeping his torso vertical...
Oh yeah - and I would add a more contrast background !!!

I spent five solid hours last night trying to paint something, anything. I gave up thinking how much I suck and that I should just stick to line drawings if anything.
What really makes me mad is I can look at paintings and digital paintings and understand how some of it was done, I know some basic principals (or do I?) of how to get it done. But it all turns to crap as soon as the pen hits the tablet.
I would be much happier if my attempts turned out anything like yours did. |

I know how you feel, I have been studying every painting but each time I try, I get it all wrong, my only okay picture was http://www.simnet.is/hangar/gif/2d/evilface03.jpg but then again, it ain't anything special.
Maybe we should just stick to lineart ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

That's a nice painting Bizarde. Occasionally it's nice just to do a bit of painting as apposed to detailed work as I guess it kinda frees up the mind a bit.
IMHO, I think that the only thing the painting was missing was stronger lighting and contrast. The dragon thingy is probably a bit crap, but unfortunately Painter doesn't have layers.
I think it's sometimes good to practice painting from reference(either still life or magazines, photos) before doing stuff from imagination. It's easy to become frustrated. Also, Painter pics have a tendency to look a bit faded and I've not quite worked out why that is. I've a feeling it's to do with the overly colourful interface.
Anyway, it's nice to see you expanding on your already awesome skills.

ceenda - try out Painter 6.0 - it has layers.
Looking good Biz. I don't know how far you are with this pic, but I would suggest really to get into each shape and form and figure out how light will react to that surface. Painting is quite different than drawing and you need some time to get your mind tuned in the different approaches. But I have no doubt you'll get very far very soon, so keep crankin' at it! Maybe it would be better for you to work from a more tight drawing??? (I know you have tens of thousands to take from!) Sometimes working from a more detailed base can narrow down those 'trial and error' periods. Just a guess and thought...

I think it looks outstandind good compared to my hopeless painting experiments.
you succeed to make the forms solid (well, I didn't). Your technique seems to work well. Just paint more! ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

looks nice bizarde....and it's nice to see you trying out new areas.
My comment would be to make a more planned lightsetting. Then I mean, is it inside light, outside, strong/weak light, how many lightsources and what kind of atmosphere around him..and the colors affecting him, is it ambient or light. Personally I disagree that it needs stronger lighting & contrast, but decide the ligh & colors (both on object and light) and make it work together with the darker areas, and define the values more. Hmm, this might sound like bunch of mumbo jumbo, I suck at explaining such information, sorry. But, I hope I've managed to get through some info..
