This is of course a work in progress.
Although I posted a green monkey (my second digital painting) this is my first true digital painting. I am playing with painterly shading on cartoony proportions.

Let me know what yall think so far.

Really cool bobo. Somewhat reminds me of the FF series. You got a really nice paint/texturing job there, looks 3d rendered

Very nice Bobo. You seem to model each secion seperately wich leads to a bit confusing lightsourcing but then again - you do it so well that it really doesn't matter. That green monkey of yours was truly awesome, and so is this. The style reminds me of Martin Emond which is by no means a bad thing! Alot of people on these boards might be very interested in abit more info on your techinque etc. I know I am!

Your attention to detail is just superb! I also like the 'funkyness' of the character. I wish I had that kinda skills since I can only (try) to draw realistic looking people and enviroment. Damn good job!

Nice pic and nice green monkey. I would suggest heavying up the outlines with subtle changes in thickness to help pop it from the background and give it more depth.

Keep it up! You. Not the monkey. Oh wait...

Wow...what to say Bobo? This looks great. Your textures as always are bang on. You always had such painterly looking skins, I was wondering when you were going to make the transition to digital painting. Glad you did...this rocks.

Very good shading/rendering! The anatomy reminds me of the stuff I did back in school, ie. big hands and feet, and a small waist.
Perhaps you should use less sharp definitions tho, it's a bit inconsistant doing a soft stomach with no "six-pack" whilst doing those ribgage muscles (serratus anterrior) so strictly defined.

i liked this so much i studied it for a long time and i noticed something you might not have. But first i would like to say bravo man but there is no way this is your first time realy doing digital painting.

Here is what i noticed. on the shirt HIS left arm and everywere but mainly here.
He is wearing a tite tite shirt. No matter how tite the shirt you would not see that much detail, It just looks like his skin was painted white. like going accros the mussles you should not see so much detail.

Umm, trying to explain it. Like if you took a chicks butt and put a tite tite pair of pants on it. You would not be able to see deep in the butt crack, see what i'm saying.
Hope this helps, agian great pic man.

Well I have finished the legs and have tweaked his expression a little to give him more personality. I am off to E3, so I will not have an opportunity to finish him until I get back.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I am going to lump my replies together so I hope I don’t leave anyone out.

I am really proud of how this turning out. The proportions are exaggerated a lot more then my normal style. This is my first digital painting but not my first digital art. I have colored a few of my line drawings in the past and I do skins for a living. I work for Ritual Entertainment as concept artist, skinner, modeler and general 2d design. Before Ritual, I was doing skins in my spare time as a release from work and now that I do skins all day long, so I have started to do digital paintings as a release. I hope do have one going at all times.

I will update the finished version as soon as possible thanks again for the feedback.
