haven't been on the forum for ages, so i thought i'd contribute a couple a' pics (just cut and paste the links, tripod doesn't allow direct links to images). fairly new to 3d in general (about my 8th week or so experimenting with it). modelled and rendered using Lightwave 6.5. i'd really love some crits or comments on these. i'm 17 now, and hopefully i might be able to make 3d animation into a career for myself, so it'd be cool to see if i'm on the right track or not. i still need to do a lot of stuff like make hair, clothing, etc..

oh yea, about the hourglass figure comment... when i did these renders, she didn't exactly have a back, and when working with subdivision surfaces, open gaps sorta are left a bit bigger than once u weld all the point, etc... |

really nice model, i have to say. really good quality, nice skinning. face and hair look real nice.
body problems: this hips look very strange. they look more like boy hips than girl hips. it isn't the problem of them being wide enough, but the bones don't make sense, like, i think the whole hip region is too long. looks too much like how boy hips are put together. there are the two lines on the hip region on your model, one that folds in, and one that is the hip bone. bring the hip bone up to around where the folding in line is and that might be about right.look at more nudie pics of girl hips. ^_^
the ribcage right around the breasts is too wide. think more cylindrical.
nice breasts.
shoulders need work, but they are always a difficult area. i guess bring them into the body a bit more.
oh yah, why does she have a mound like a guy between her legs? that area isn't that prominent on girls!
nice model though. what are you making it with?

A comment on the textures: They look pretty good, for the most part, but there's a whole lot more variation in skin tone from one part of the body to another. The cheeks and nose are tinted more red, the forehead area is yellower, the lower third of the face is ever so slightly tinted blue or green (moreso on men, especially if they haven't shaved.) As far as the body itself is concerned, the skin in the chest area is usually lighter, and it gets darker and a bit more reddish/brown as you approach the hands and feet.
If the skin tone is the same throughout the entire body, it'll look more like a plastic toy than a real person. As starfallz suggested, look at more nudie pics, and pay close attention to the tone/value of the skin at different points. |

Heh, why bother with clothing? Seriously, this is good work. I'm not a 3D guy, so I don't know how much I can help, except to say that it looks good... Maybe you could lower the shoulders and widen the hips a little for that hourglass shape. Really, you've got good work here, I think you have a lot of talent and promise. |

Pretty nice, but I think the breasts are placed too high on her chest. |
