I recently decided that I should learn to draw :-), so first thing I drawed is this knife that's always sitting on my desk, the sketch is a pencil drawing, and the coloring is done with painter and oil paints (what could work better?).

I think there's something wrong with the perspective? (I'm used to drawing things in parallel projection) and also the coloring of the blade is wrong. The color at the back of the knife is the right color of the metal part, the front still isn't.
What do you people think of this sketch, and how should I continue with it? I'd like to get it as realistic as possible.
Greets,
Coen

Perspective is not too bad,
...but the blade could do with a shadow, without a shadow it looks wrong in perspective but I don't think it is. Dunno about painting, I'm sill learning. Quality drawing skills though.

You drew that knife the first time? *wow* It's actually pretty good. I really don't see any problems in perspective with the first knife... but with the painted one, where you goofed is on the blade. The side with the actual blade, the part nearest to the pocket knife holder thingy is the thing that's causing the trouple. You can see that the knife blade is ... beveled in too much thus the area is offcenterd. Try putting your pencil sketch on top and set it on overlay to help you.

--gah I think i explained it all funky .... hope it helps though.

Thx for the crit, I'm gonna redo the blade I think, I don't really like it anyway, at least I'll redo the coloring.
