Hi guys !
I started this "digi painting" a few days ago ... Well, I'm sure the face will be the hard part of the process ... Do you know some tips and tricks for paiting faces ?? Starting with the nose, or something like that ?
Anyway, here are the link and the pic :

Yes, I used a photo-reference for this ... And yes, it's Jessica Biel ! (;P)
Crits are welcome !!

well yes it is tracing, however i learned alot from just getting the feel of painting from doing the same, how ever i say u should challenge your self next time and do it with out the little layer tracing . . .
but it is rather good, even though was painted on the image! |

That's not a referance photo. It's a layer over a scan and that's called tracing.
Trying out and try to learn the program is ok, but you have to remember that you have to have all the basic knowledge(shapes, values, colours) down.
Doing what your'e doing now will not make you a better digital artist. Try to use the PC as a medium, rather than a tracing tool.
About painting faces...Try to buy some good books about the subject. Learn and study it. There is no other easy way.
Hope this can help.

Hi Micke !
I didn't know this was called "tracing", thanks for this ...
Well, this Jessica pic is my first attempt in "painting-like" rendering . To do this, i used the photograph to get the main shape, then i mask the scan and re-create the shapes and lights , watching at a paper version of the pic
Thanks for the good advices, anyway !!!!! Really cool pics on your site, i do love the Boba Fett
Bye
