Dono what reaction this'll be met with. Lotta people I know despise the Doom series - ya know, the whole mindless violence thing. But I enjoyed the whole spacemarine theme, and the books even. And since Doom 3 is in production [and boy, they've made a killer engine this time], I figgered Id do some Doom art.

Ha nice ah i remember those good old doom days.. many a nice day was spent playing doom.. all 32 lvls! Nice pic i really like the color tones real emotional. I would work on a better background than that bright yellow.. maybe a sunset or sumthing

doom kicked ass when it came out. heh.
nice work. same comment about the background as above. it's a little too bright. maybe use red or black? nice composition overall.

it looks like the doom2 intro screened mirrored with a different background. but don't get me wrong!! I like this image, I am big doom2 fan, hell I still even play it online.
And I agree that Doom3 is going to kick some major pixels.

faust: Catacomb Abyss - haha... softdisk + mad hatter... those were the days. =)
I think Brom did a so-so job on those Doom posters, but hey, that was years ago... |

(well, Doom2 anyway... and I'm quite sure it was his work on the original Doom poster) |

Blargh. That image above ended up frustrating me to the brink of psychosis. Then I went to the silver snail, looking for some inspiration. Saw one image on a comic that stuck in my head - and started a whole new image.

On a slight tangent, who is Brom, does he post here, and does he have a website? |

Shaded: search the Sijun Forums for Brom, an address to his work was posted in the past 2 weeks. |

Christ. Thats some talent the guys got.
But nothing much on the whole spacemarine theme. He apparantly did only the doom 2 cover [which i like better anyway].
Pity. Wouldve liked to see some more of his sci-fi stuff. |

Na, the only reference I had was a sketch on a MacDonalds happy meal paper bag from visiting the silver snail comic store.
The first one was done with the airbrush and smudge tools. I apparantly suck at those. Then I tried that spoogish kinda technique with the paintbrush at different opacities. And it worked a lot better - which made me = happy. |
